I have been a nurse for 20 years and have seen a lot of things change over the years. In my opinion, nursing was hurt by Covid and has not recovered yet. We are finding a lot of the new graduates do not have the clinical or critical thinking skills necessary to effectively provide care to patients. Having said that, hospitals need to have a robust residency program to fill the gaps. Nursing students or new grads need to be diligent in their research to see which facilities provide the best residency training.
